After the Sunday Big win, Arsene Wenger gave a standing ovation to the whole team for their outstanding performance in the second-half.

Every Arsenal fans witnessed the poor display of the team in the first-half. Astray passing, flapping keeper, bad defending, and poor attacking. With this performance, the manager showed the team the "Other" side of him during half-time. The side that was never witnessed or experience by anyone in the team.

You can called it shouting, you can called it anger, you can called it whatever you want, but it has given the team inspiration, motivation and a bit of kick in the ****.

The second-half shows the different Arsenal team, a team that build upon good passing, beautiful movement, fast one-touch and classy goals. Although the first goal was an own goal, but credit to the team by applying pressure as early as they can on the Liverpool defense.

The second and winning goal was really outstanding. A direct cross which was not dealt with by the Liverpool defense that found our lil' russian just inside the penalty box. A quick touch to setup the ball before releasing a venomous strike which comes off the inside post and nestled in the net. It's his fifth goal against Liverpool @ Anfield in 2 consecutive seasons and this time it's the winning goal.

"You could put any goalkeeper in that position and he is never going to make the save. " Walcott stated.

"Andrei Arshavin scored his winning goal at Anfield on Sunday with an injured foot." admits Arsene Wenger

I hope we can build a momentum after winning the game against Liverpool and keep the pressure on the top two. The games will be hectic come Christmas so we do need the team to keep focus and find the consistency in their game.

Everybody write-off Arsenal after the lost against Chelsea. But 2 weeks after that game, we are back in the mix with a game in hand.

"We have come back at them in a very short space of time since they beat us in late November. Even I did not expect that to happen". admits Wenger

Arsenal ace Andrey Arshavin insists their defeat to Chelsea has not ended their title hopes.

A crushing 3-0 home defeat by Chelsea on Sunday left the Gunners 11 points behind the Blues, albeit with a game in hand.

But Arshavin insists: "We haven't stopped fighting for the championship. I think that if we manage to win the next couple of games, then everything will fall into place. After all, Chelsea can stumble, too. But we have to win ourselves."

Didier Drogba was the difference between the two sides, scoring a sublime double split by a Thomas Vermaelen own goal, but Arshavin believes the scoreline did not reflect the balance of the game.

"I think that we were playing our game but Chelsea scored," he said. "The initiative was on our side but we were unable to take our chances.

"As for Chelsea, they, on the contrary, managed to score three times. They organized the game this way: they hardly tried to play on the counter-attack, they just tried to use their chances in the attack.

"Unfortunately, they managed to score twice at the end of the first half, but it didn't break us down. We continued to play our football, tried to create some chances in their half of the pitch."

The agent of Barcelona midfielder Yaya Toure has told Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal to make them an offer.

The midfielder, 26, younger brother of City's Kolo, has failed to nail down a regular spot in Barca's first-team this season and could be on his way for £10million.

His agent Dimitri Seluk told The Sun: "The situation must change soon or the kid leaves Barcelona in January.

"Yaya is not for the bench and this situation isn't helpful for them or us.

"We do not understand Barca's motives and if a club like Arsenal, Chelsea or Manchester City are interested in the transfer window, then we are open to negotiation."

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is ready to revive his bid for Bordeaux striker Marouane Chamakh.

The Daily Mail says Wenger admits his concern at failing to score in back-to-back Barclays Premier League defeats by Chelsea and Sunderland following injury to star striker Robin van Persie.

With the Holland international now ruled out for up to five months and Nicklas Bendtner also struggling with a groin strain, Wenger is contemplating adding to his attacking options when the transfer window opens in January.
Chamakh

The Frenchman remains an admirer of Chamakh, but a summer pursuit turned ugly when he refused to bid even half of Bordeaux's £15million asking price and later withdrew his interest because he thought the Morocco international would struggle to get a game at the Emirates Stadium.

The landscape has changed, however, and Chamakh could be available at a knockdown price as he is out of contract in the summer.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was pleased with their performance in victory over Champions League opponents Standard Liege last night.

Samir Nasri and Denilson scored to earn the Gunners a 2-0 win over Standard Liege which leaves them on an unassailable 13 points at the group summit, six clear of second-placed Olympiacos.

"The first half was good, with lots of fluent movement, but after we lacked a bit of urgency in the final third because we eased off," he said.

Wenger added: "If you look in the last eight or nine games, we have had a very good run.
"Saturday at Sunderland was not at the requested level.

"It is not out of the mind of the players because you never forget a disappointment, but it was important to win this game well with the Chelsea game on Sunday in mind."

Arsenal continued their fine record of qualifying for the latter stages of Europe's elite club competition - something Liverpool could not do tonight.

"I am pleased, because this competition is not easy," said Wenger, who took his side to the final in 2006 and semi-finals last season.

"We were favourites in this group, which was normal, so we just did the job.

"But if you put the 10 years together, we have been consistent."

Wenger added: "There are two competitions in the Champions League, one is a championship, one is a cup.

"We move into that cup stage now, and that's very different psychologically.

"Every minute now becomes important. We have to adapt to that.

"Let's get all our injured players back, get in a strong position in the Premier League, and that will give us the confidence."

Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas said now is a good time for his team to relax after they booked their place in the next phase of the European Champions League.

The Gunners overcame a shaky start to dispose of Belgian club Standard Liege 2-0 at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night and now their place in the round of 16 is wrapped up, Fabregas believes it is a great opportunity for some fringe players to gain some Champions League experience.

"It's really good for the team because we still have a game to go and we can relax a little and give some rest to some players, and make sure that some of the players who don't play too much can get a game,” the Spaniard told Sky Sports Xtra.

Fabregas said it wasn’t an easy encounter against a determined Liege outfit but commended his teammates for fighting hard to gain the ascendency and eventually win the contest.

"It didn't go our way but we kept going, we believed and we were positive,” he added. "We did not feel it was done, but for sure we felt more.

"We just tried to be professional because we knew sometimes it can happen that the other team gets frustrated and you receive some bad kicks.

"We just tried to play our football and that's what we did."

Arsenal secured their place in the last 16 of the Champions League with a 2-0 win over Standard Liege at The Emirates on Tuesday night.
The Gunners needed only a point from the Group H clash but as soon as Denilson (45) added to Samir Nasri's (35) opener, their passage through to the knockout stages was assured.

The Gunners started well and created four chances that required desperate defending and brave goalkeeping from their Belgian opponents to deny them.

Andrey Arshavin's header was saved by Sinan Bolat, Carlos Vela hit the rebound against the post, the ball fell for William Gallas but Bolat blocked twice, then Thomas Vermaelen's finish struck Arshavin on the goalline.

Emmanuel Eboue attempted to win a penalty by getting his legs to clip Eliaquim Mangala - but referee Konrad Plautz waved play on.

But Standard came closest to breaking the deadlock when Diedonne Mbokani cut inside from the left and curled a shot which clattered the crossbar.

However it was Arsenal who eventually went ahead through Nasri.

Vermaelen's long ball should have been cut out but Landry Mulemo slipped and Nasri finished on the half-volley into the left corner.

Arshavin could have added a second goal but fired just wide and then at the other end, Reginal Goreux looked to have a legitimate claim for a penalty when Gallas brought him down in the box.
However, Arsenal doubled their lead in first-half stoppage time. Denilson thumped a 30-yard effort which Bolat could only help into the net.

Theo Walcott, Mikael Silvestre and Tomas Rosicky were all introduced in the second half but chances were few and far between.

The visitors were reduced to 10 men with four minutes to go when Mehdi Carcela-Gonzalez was dismissed for headbutting Cesc Fabregas.
